MICHIGAN ORCHID SOCIETY MINUTES

Before the meeting, Nikki Klutz (Anthony) gave a presentation on ‘Growing Orchids in Terrariums’.
The meeting was called to order at 2:32 pm by President Dale Garden. There was one visitor present. President Garden again stressed the need for a newsletter editor, Show chairman and program chairman. The invitation to join members for dinner at the Outback was extended by President Garden.
President Garden announced the passing of long time member Ann Brunke.
President Dale Garden introduced Renie Gatny-Smity who gave a report on the holiday party at the Gazebo, 13 Mile Rd. and Mound, in Warren, Dec. 7. Tickets are $27.00 with a cash bar. 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
President Dale Garden introduced Renie Gatny-Smith who listed the nominees for board positions: President, Tim Heath, 1st Vice President, Pam Garden, 2nd Vice President, Gyorgy Nagy, Corresponding Secretary, Yvonne Whiteley, Recording Secretary, Diane Burton, Treasurer, Denice Dudas. There were no nominations from the floor. The nominations were closed and the nominees were elected by acclimation.
Renie Gatny-Smith asked for nomination for trustee for 3 year position. Renie Gatny-Smith was nominated by Denice Dudas, 2nd Pam Garden. Renie Gatny-Smith was elected by acclimation.
The position of Hospitality chairman was accepted by Sandy Hill and Publicity chairman was accepted by Dan Arthur. They were confirmed by acclimation.
The first show of the season was announced. Midland, Nov. 27-28. Drop off points for plants were announced.
Nikki Klutz (Anthony) introduced Mario Faruzzi of Marsh Hollow. He gave a very comprehensive presentation on ‘Mario’s Orchids from A to Z’. He also brought plants for sale.
Refreshments were served, and then the plant table was presented by Mario Faruzzi and Joe Peterson. People’s choice species went to Gyorgy Nagy for his Angraecum liones and hybrid award went to Dan Arthur for his Masdevallia White Angel.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:35
